About Salvo:

Born in Sicily, Salvatore Mangione, better known as Salvo, moved to Turin where he began his artistic career. During the 1960s, he came into contact with the conceptual tendencies of the Arte Povera movement, and thereafter, turned his interest towards Italian painting of the 14th and 15th centuries and its reinterpretation by others such as Carlo Carrà. Never fully committing himself to any one group, Salvo once again turned away from conceptual art. Thereafter, he developed a melancholic and nostalgic, “Neo-Mannerist” style with intriguing character and intellectual complexity, saying in an interview: “Why shouldn’t I take on the painting challenge? Why should I deny myself the pleasure of colour?”

The Parkview Museum is now Permanently Closed. Thank you for your patronage.
We look forward to welcoming you to The Parkview Museum Beijing.
